Force Friday is back and according to Disney and Lucasfilm it will take place this coming September 1, 2017. In case you are wondering, Force Friday was launched last September 2015 as an introduction to official merchandising campaign for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
“The first Star Wars Force Friday event was truly unique, uniting fans across five continents in an unprecedented global live unboxing event ahead of thousands of midnight openings at retail,” said Jimmy Pitaro, chairman, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. “We’re excited to confirm that Star Wars Force Friday is back for The Last Jedi. Plans for this year’s worldwide event are top secret, but expect something befitting the excitement around the next episode of the Star Wars saga.”
Details on how fans can participate will be announced as the event comes closer. The worldwide launch will introduce a new technology and Star Wars mythology to give a one of kind experience for fans. Like what they did last 2015, products for The Last Jedi will be kept under wraps to keep the excitement and element of surprise. Disney and Lucasfilms also revealed the new packaging which features Poe, Finn and Lightsaber wielding Rey sporting a new hairstyle.
